The Biting Back event is soon and we’ve still some places left. I know its the start of a busy week in Birmingham, but if you haven’t got your ticket yet and are hesitating – consider this.
I know this is a difficult time for lots of arts organisations. There is uncertainty over funding. Jobs are at risk, work is threatened and morale is low. All in all, it could be seen as a shitty time for the arts.
We could debate how we got here, regret who we voted for or rail against the system. We could decide to bitch about the awards that are made or pull our horns in, hunker down and speak to no one.
Biting Back is seeking to do something different: to give us an opportunity, just for a day, to change the conversation. To speak to people who have made work around the world in the face of adversity, political and cultural opposition and NO money whatsoever.
I don’t mean to be all Pollyanna about this – but this event could be the start of conversations and alliances that sees the community of artists and organisations figure a way out of this. For us all to take a wider perspective – see the bigger picture and increase our shared energy levels for the inevitable fight ahead.
Put simply – come to Biting Back. For me the day will be the answer to the question: “How do you grow roses when you’re up to your ass in manure?”.
Click here to book. You won’t regret the time or money.
